Chapter 16: Light Restored

Chapter 16: Light Restored

The countdown clock ticked relentlessly: 00:05:12. The lab was filled with frantic keystrokes, sweat, and the hum of overheating machines.

Arman leaned forward, his system already fried, working from Zara’s rig. “We’re close. If we reroute the relay nodes into a feedback loop, we can stall the blackout cascade.”

Zara’s eyes darted across the cipher streams. “I’ll stabilize the grid. Just keep pushing.”

Riya’s voice trembled but carried determination. “I’ve mapped the anomalies. If we patch them here—” she pointed to the diagram—“we can restore balance.”

Kian slammed a final command into the terminal. “Done. The loop is holding.”

The countdown froze at 00:00:59. Then, slowly, the red digits dissolved into green. Across the city, lights flickered back to life. Hospitals, homes, and streets glowed again, Dhaka breathing in relief.

The four teens sat back, exhausted but triumphant.

Riya turned to Arman, her eyes soft. “You risked everything. Even your system. I thought I lost you to all of this.”

Arman met her gaze, his voice quiet. “You never lost me. I just didn’t know how much I needed you until now.”

Their hands intertwined, a silent reconciliation.

Zara watched, her usual sharpness tempered by respect. “You’re reckless, Arman. But you’re also the reason we won. I won’t forget that.”

Kian stood apart, his chest heavy with heartbreak. He forced a faint smile. “I guess some battles aren’t mine to win. But I’ll grow stronger. I have to.”

The group sat in silence, the glow of restored power washing over them. For the first time, they felt like they had truly beaten Black Circuit.

But then, Arman’s monitor flickered. A final message appeared, chilling in its simplicity:

“You’ve won this round. The black circuit retreats.”

Cliffhanger Ending: The teens succeed in restoring power and find emotional resolution, but Black Circuit’s ominous retreat promises that the war is far from over.
