Chapter 9: Trust Fractures
The sabotage of Arman’s father’s shop had shaken the group to its core. They gathered in the dimly lit lab, the smell of burnt wires still clinging to Arman’s clothes. No one spoke at first; the silence was heavier than any blackout.
Finally, Zara broke it. “They knew exactly where to strike. That means someone told them.”
Her words hung in the air like a blade.
Kian stiffened. “What are you implying?”
Zara’s eyes narrowed. “I’m implying there’s a leak. Someone in this room.”
Riya’s voice trembled. “No… we’re friends. We wouldn’t—”
Arman cut her off, his tone sharp. “I checked the logs. The intrusion wasn’t external. It came from inside our shared folder. Someone accessed it remotely.”
Kian’s face flushed. “So you think it’s me? Because I’m not the genius hacker? Because I don’t spend nights buried in code?”
Arman hesitated, guilt flickering across his features. “I didn’t say it was you. But the trail points to one of us. And we need to know who.”
The tension grew unbearable. Riya looked between them, her heart pounding. She saw the jealousy in Kian’s eyes, the loyalty he tried to prove, the fear that he might lose her to Arman. She saw Arman’s paranoia, his need for control, and Zara’s sharp suspicion that cut through every word.
Psychological cracks were forming—jealousy, loyalty, fear—all colliding in the small room.
Kian finally stood, his voice shaking. “I’ve never betrayed you. But if you don’t trust me, maybe I shouldn’t be here.” He stormed out, leaving the others in stunned silence.
Riya’s phone buzzed. She glanced down, her breath catching. A new message had appeared, anonymous and chilling:
“Riya, we know you care about him. Help us, and no one gets hurt.”
Her hands trembled as she read the signature at the bottom.

✨ Cliffhanger Ending: Riya receives a direct, personal message from Black Circuit, forcing her into a dangerous dilemma and deepening the fractures within the group.
