Chapter 10: The Betrayal
The rooftop was quiet, the city’s hum faint in the distance. Arman sat alone, staring at the encrypted fragments on his laptop. His mind was torn between the mission and the chaos of emotions swirling around him.
Riya approached slowly, her footsteps hesitant. She had been carrying the weight of Black Circuit’s secret message all day, and the sight of Arman only made it heavier.
“Arman,” she said softly, her voice trembling. “We need to talk.”
He looked up, weary. “About what?”
Riya’s eyes burned with frustration. “About us. About what happened with Zara. About everything.”
Arman closed the laptop, his jaw tightening. “It wasn’t supposed to happen. We were arguing, and then—”
Riya cut him off, her emotions boiling over. “You don’t get it. I’ve been by your side since we were kids. I’ve always believed in you. And now… now I feel invisible.”
Her words pierced him. He stood, stepping closer. “You’re not invisible, Riya. You’re the reason I keep fighting. You’re the one who keeps me grounded.”
The tension between them snapped. Riya’s anger gave way to vulnerability, and before either could stop themselves, their lips met in a desperate, emotional kiss.
But they weren’t alone.
Kian had come to find Riya, worried after her sudden distance. He froze at the edge of the rooftop, his heart shattering as he saw them together. His breath caught, and he turned away, devastated, the sound of his footsteps retreating into the night.
Neither Arman nor Riya noticed.
Downstairs, Zara was in the lab, scanning through the shared folder. She frowned as she stumbled upon something unusual—an incoming message not meant for her.
Her eyes widened as she read the words:
“Riya, we know you care about him. Help us, and no one gets hurt. —Black Circuit”
Zara’s stomach dropped. She whispered to herself, “Riya… what have you done?”
✨ Cliffhanger Ending: Kian’s heartbreak deepens the emotional fracture, while Zara’s discovery of Riya’s secret message threatens to unravel the group’s fragile trust.
